M.S. is a Post Graduate Research Degree in Engineering. Admission for MS is through an Entrance Test and an Interview, conducted by the university, for students who possess B.E / B. Tech. or any other Qualifications recognized by the University. M. Phil. is a research degree offered in Science and Humanities. Admission for candidates possessing Post-graduate qualification is through an interview. The Candidates once admitted, must pass in two subjects prescribed and then submit the thesis based on the results of their research work.

Ph.D. Program is offered in all faculties. Admission is for candidates possessing Postgraduate qualifications in the concerned subject and is through a Written Test or an Interview or both. The admitted candidates must pass the Pre-Ph.D. Examination and then submit the thesis based on their research work.

The University has provision for Full time and External Registration for Research Programs. In full time research, the candidate has to work as Full time Research Scholar in one of the constituent Units of JNTU. In case of external registration, the candidate must be employed in research and development organization or educational institutions having facilities for carrying out the research at their work place. However, they are also permitted to utilize the University facilities when ever required. In case of external registration, the candidate shall have one research supervisor from the organization they are working and the other supervisor from the university.

All admissions for The Academic Programs of the University are State-wide and are made as per the provisions of the Presidential Order and rule of reservation of A P State Government.
