Dr.L.V.A.R.Sarma is the Present Director of School of Information Technology, JNTUH, Kukatpally, Hyderabad.Dr. LVAR SARMA obtained his B.Tech and M.Tech degrees from REC Warangal (presently known as NIT Warangal) in 1974 and 1976 respectively. He was awarded doctoral degree by the prestigious Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in the field of OPTICAL COMPUTING in 1985. Presently, he is on deputation to Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies as the DEAN of the Institute. As a professor of the Electronics & Communication Engineering department, he taught various subjects and guided number of projects at UG and PG levels. He has about 10 research paper presentations / publications in National, International Conferences and Journals to his credit. He conducted a couple of short term courses, Summer Schools and delivered few expert lectures.
As a member of Board of Studies of Department of ECE, he played crucial role in introducing the most important subject Signals & systems into B.Tech curriculum in 1990. He was instrumental in establishing Digital Systems & Microprocessors laboratory, Fiber Optic communication laboratory, Centre for Internet Technologies and MCA laboratory under MHRD, AICTE and UGC funded projects at JNTU Ananthpur and Kakinada.
During his 30 years of service in JNTU, he worked in various capacities, as officer-in-charge of examinations, Head of ECE dept., Head of CSE dept., at JNTU Ananthpur and Kakinada. He was the Director of School of Information Technology, JNTU for 6 years right from its inception in 2001. He also held the position of Director, UGC Academic Staff College of JNTU later. His commendable contributions to the student aspirants were in the form of Convener of various important Common Entrance examinations of Andhra Pradesh, namely, District Information Officers Examination in 2003, Post Graduate Residential IT Academy Common Entrance Examination (PRITACET-2006) for initiating 21st Centaury Gurukulams of Andhra Pradesh.
He is familiar to the students and parents of Intermediate Education also through the State-wide common entrance examination - EAMCET for admission into all Medical, Agricultural and Engineering colleges of the state. Dr. Sarma is a successful administrator to be nominated by A.P. government as convener of EAMCET for five consecutive years (2002 to 2006) and again in 2009.
Additional responsible duties of the university carried out efficiently by him include Board of Studies Chairman (2004 2007) for curriculum redesign of ECE courses of all the engineering colleges of the State, Federation member and President of Teachers Association at JNTUCEK. In recognition of his achievements and outstanding contributions to academics, Government of Andhra Pradesh honored him with the BEST TEACHER award in 2003 and placed him as a member of the Executive council, the highest level decision making body of JNT University in the category of Professor in 2004.
