He earned a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1978; an M.Tech degree from IIT Madras in Heat Transfer and Thermal Power Engineering in 1980. He earned MS and Ph.D. degrees from Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA in 1983 and 1987; followed by post-doctoral stints at Southern Illinois University, USA in 1988 and at Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited, R&D Centre, Vadodara in India during 1991-92. He joined JNTU in 1994 as Associate Professor and served as Head, Mechanical Engineering Dept., JNTUH College of Engineering during 2001-02 and 2005-2008, for two terms. He had the distinction of serving as the first Advisor from Andhra Pradesh in AICTE, New Delhi. He worked in AICTE under the able stewardship of Prof. R. Natarajan, Former Director IIT Madras and Chairman, AICTE during 2002 – 2005. He also worked in Indian Oil Corporation, Chennai (Marketing Division) and NTPC New Delhi (Operation and Maintenance). Thus he has a blend of academia, administrative and industrial experience. Dr. Reddy has several national and international publications including a NASA report.

Professional Experience

He worked as a Lecturer at Drexel University, USA from 1983 to 1987. Immediately after his doctorate, he was Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Southern Illinois University, USA during 1988. He served as a CSIR Pool Officer at Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited Corporate R & D Centre, Vadodara, Gujarat during 1991-92. He joined JNTU in 1994 and has been working in JNTU since September 1994 onwards. Prof. Reddy has worked in industry as well. He served in Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Marketing) at Chennai in1979; worked in National Thermal Power Corporation, New Delhi (as Operation and Maintenance Engineer) in 1981.

Research Research Publications

Prof. Reddy has published several papers in international and national journals, one NASA report and has presented about 20 papers in international and national conferences. His research citations include those from General Motors, Michigan, USA and Stanford Research Institute, California, USA. He is the recipient of three research projects from national funding agency AICTE.

Research Guidance

Guided one doctoral student and about 35 M.Tech projects and currently five students are registered under him for Ph.D. and one student for M.S. His areas of expertise are Thermodynamics, Fuels, Heat Transfer, CFD and Alternative Energy Utilization.

Prof. Reddy is a member of Combustion Institute (Indian Chapter), MISTE & MISME.

Sports / Extra-Curricular Activities

Besides his research activity, he was an avid sportsman having represented Andhra Pradesh in Handball (twice)(1975-76), Osmania University in Basketball (once) (1977), and IIT Madras in Athletics, Basketball and Cricket (1978-80). He was the recipient of Silver medal in Javelin throw in the Inter IIT Meet held at IIT Delhi in 1979.
